interior architecture and design. furniture design and production.
set in a twenty acre pine forest, this tented resort was designed in a manner that was location specific. detailed attention was paid to maximize resources and preserve the delicate balance of the ecology. water harvesting methods, engineered water saving faucets, wood and gas room heaters, wood-fire barbeque stoves, solar outdoor lighting and emergency room light were all installed.
the interior of the tented accommodation was treated with the same care to environment. the architect chose to use materials that matched the outdoor; a heavy palette of hardwood pine (being situated in a pine forest this seemed like the most natural and primal material to choose), walnut, metal, stone (a grey stone to mimic the grey rocks and boulders spread across the neighboring hills), leather, jute and cotton.
the design sensibility would best be described as minimal, industrial and organic.
